Tasting room opens for the season
After laying around on the couch for three months eating bon-bons, we are ready to peel ourselves off and get back to doing what we love to do -- selling great wines to folks who appreciate them. With that in mind, the Featherstone tasting room re-opens for the season on Saturday, April 7, 2012. Closed on Good Friday, April 6, and on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012.
Our Tasting Room hours for the 2012 season are:
April and May
Open Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays from 11:00 am - 5:30 pm.
June, July, August
Open Thursday through Monday from 11:00 am - 5:30 pm (closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays).
September - December
Open Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays from 11:00 am - 5:30 pm.
We charge $5.00 for tasting samples of four wines. A portion of our tasting room fees are shared with the local food bank.

The ‘F’ing’ Winery Tour
The ‘F’ing’ Winery Tour Join us for a spring fling at all three of the ‘f’-ing wineries-Flat Rock Cellars, Fielding Estate, and Featherstone Estate Winery. We three wineries band together once a year for a fanciful, flavourful, “F’ing” Winery Tour.
Our farfetched theme and this year’s forthcoming festivities include fanciful food and wine pairings at each winery. This year the food pairings will focus on flatbread with a fresh, fabulous topping. Each winery will match their featured food to their feature wines. We hope to see you at the forthcoming frenzy of first-class wines. Bring your friends!
Friday April 20; Saturday, April 21; and Sunday, April 22 from 11:00am-4:00pm. A passport fee of $10.00 per person (plus HST) entitles you to taste two featured wines and a fitting food pairing at each winery. Passports can be purchased at all three wineries, either by ordering ahead or on the day of your visit.

'Noshing' on the Veranda opens for the season
Our huge wrap-around veranda opens for the season this weekend. We have changed the menu completely in 2012, streamlining it towards a simpler noshing, wine bar fare. Meat and cheese boards featuring local artisanal products are the mainstay of the new menu although our clay-pot breads will be back.
Enjoy any of our wonderful wines by the glass or bottle. See the full veranda menu here.
Nosh will be available on Fridays, Saturday, Sundays, and Mondays, from 11:00am-4:00pm: beginning on May 19 to end of day on September 3, 2012.

Food Celebration
Tickled Pink: grilled straw-berries and rosé
Fresh local berries are in season! Dig into oven-roasted strawberries drizzled in balsamic vinegar, topped with freshly ground black pepper, and served over a wedge of grilled angel food cake. We are pairing this delicious nibble with our limited-production, vibrant and fruity 2011 Rosé. This rose shows all the freshness of a summer’s day, so Drink the Pink.
Saturday, June 23 from 12:00 (noon) - 4:00 pm $3.00 per person Sunday, June 24 from 12:00 (noon) - 4:00 pm $3.00 per person.

Joy and bubbles
Sparkling wine is the wine of celebration and no other wine is so associated with joy and festivity. Join us for a sip of Featherstone 2008 Premium Cuvée “Joy”, made in strict adherence to the French méthod classique and using only estate-grown chardonnay grapes. This is one of the few times our sparkling wine will be available for tasting, and with only 112 cases produced, we don’t expect to have it on the shelves for very long.
To celebrate Canada Day, and the winemaker’s birthday, Featherstone 2008 Premium Cuvée “Joy” (retail price $34.95) will be open for tasting all weekend. A delicious nibble …which is yet to be determined...will be served with the bubbles.
Saturday, June 30 from 12:00 (noon) - 4:00 pm Sunday, July 1 from 12:00 (noon) - 4:00 pm Monday, July 2 from 12:00 (noon) - 4:00 pm

Last chance for nosh on the Veranda
As harvest approaches and cooler weather is in the offing, we box up the cutlery, put away the tables and chairs and turn our thoughts from sunny repasts on the veranda to the ripening grapes, booking harvest crews, and making wine.
The last chance for noshing on the veranda is from 11:00am-4:00pm, Friday, September 1, through to Monday, September 3, inclusive. (We then close the veranda for the season Monday, September 3 at 4:00pm.)

A Joyful Time
We will feature the release of 2009 Cuvée Joy, our sparkling wine made in the method traditionelle, just in time for the holidays.
Big and red doesn’t only describe Santa! We will also release the 2010 Onyx cabernet-merlot blend, which we only make when we have an exceptional vintage. Onyx ($29.95/ 750mL) was 20 months in French barrels, and has a deep ruby colour and a generous, sweet nose of mocha, raspberry, plum, pipe tobacco. Mid-weight, quite smooth and well balanced with a bit of spice on the finish. Production was limited to 389 cases (16 barrels).
